Dr P C Vijayakumar graduated from Chengalpattu Medical College and finished his postgraduation in Anesthesiology from the prestigious Madras Medical College. He is associated with Sooriya Hospital, Chennai for more than a decade and takes care of surgical patients as an efficient perioperative physician. Dr Biju Pottakkat has been working as Additional Professor and Head, Surgical Gastroenterology, (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research) JIPMER, Pondicherry. He has completed his basic medical training MBBS from University of Calicut and Masters in Surgery MS from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. He did his post-doctoral speciality training MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. Later he obtained post doctoral fellowship in hepatopancreatic and biliary surgery (HPB surgery) and became the first candidate to get the fellowship in India. He is a Diplomate of the National Board and a fellow of the international college of surgeons. Due to his specific interest in liver surgery, he moved to Japan where he worked as lecturer in Liver surgery at Kurume University School of Medicine at Fukuoka under Dr K Okuda. Later he worked as a fellow in the department of HPB surgery at Washington University in St. Louis under Dr Steven M Strasberg. He completed fellowship in Liver Transplant Surgery at Asian Centre for Liver disease and Transplantation at Singapore. He was working as a faculty in Liver transplant unit at Department of surgical gastroenterology at SGPGIMS, Lucknow before joining JIPMER, Puducherry. He has many awards and fellowships to his credit. United European Gastroenterology Federation Scholarship, Scholarship of the International College of Surgeons, Scholarship of the international council of Coloproctology (ICCP), Young Investigator Award of Korean Society of Gastroenterology are some of them. He has received travel awards from the Japanese Surgical Society, European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (EAES), American Society of Transplantation, Indian society of Gastroenterology, Indian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of science and technology (DST),Govt of India etc. He has cleared HCCB (health care compliance board certification) of the American Board in the year 2008. Dr. Parveen Malhotra is a Haryana-based Consultant Gastroenterologist, specialising in gastroenterology, hepatology and therapeutic endoscopy. Dr. Malhotra has 50 publications to his name, 20 of which have been in international journals. He organises and conducts regular awareness camps, educational talks, and ensures print media coverage so as to increase awareness in society about the prevention and treatment of hepatitis.
A proud recipient of awards for his academic and professional efforts, he is also a respected member of various associations connected to his field. He serves as a postgraduate teacher at University of Health Sciences and as a thesis guide for postgraduate students. Dr. Parveen Malhotra has been credited for several achievements at PGIMS Rohtak, many of which have been accomplished through his single-handed efforts and dedication. His department performs 700 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic and colonoscopic procedures per month, absolutely free of cost, with all procedures being done by Dr. Malhotra himself. Further, the Gastroenterology OPD treats around 200 patients every week, with free medicines provided by the hospital.In view of the hepatitis C epidemic in Haryana, the government in collaboration with the Medical Gastroenterology department at PGIMS has started the Jeevan Rekha project, aimed to give a new lease of life to patients suffering from the disease. Dr. Malhotra is the Principal Nodal Officer of its dedicated Hepatitis C Centre, the first of its kind in India, where free treatment is being given to patients belonging to the below-poverty-line (BPL) category and at subsidised rates to others. 2,100 patients have been enrolled so far for this project, with a very high level of success. Free screening camps are being held regularly in areas with high prevalence in order to detect the maximum number of patients and treat them effectively [See below for more details]. Dr. Parveen Malhotra's department has been instrumental in establishing India’s first Endoscopy and Hepatitis Helpline. Also, a dedicated Celiac Clinic has been started under the aegis of the Medical Gastroenterology department, in view of the spurt in patients being confirmed with celiac disease.
Dr. Parveen Malhotra is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Nutrition Research (JNR) which the publication in JNR is mentioned as one of the Criteria for Recognition of any Indian Organiation to be Recognized by IAPEN as "Centre for Learning in Advanced Clinical Nutrition". We at IAPEN. deeply honor his dedication towards promoting Lifelong Learning by publications and also contributions towards patient care in treating 200 patients per week in Government Hospital.

Dr Suryanarayana SP has completed his MBBS and MD (Community Medicine) from Bangalore University. He has gained experience by working in Indian Population Project VIII as a Training Officer for a period of 1 year where he was involved in training of health care workers in the area of reproductive and child health from various cadres like Medical Officers, Pediatricians, Health workers, Anganwadi workers and Link workers along with development of training manuals. He later worked in the Department of Epidemiology, NIMHANS as Junior Scientific Officer gave him insight and developed his skills in the field of Epidemiology of Mental Health and injury prevention and involved in projects like development of Neurotrauma Registry, Socio-economic impact of injuries, suicide prevention and drive against drunk and driving. In 2004 he joined M.S.Ramaiah Medical College as Assistant Professor and continued his journey as a teacher. He is the HOD of Department of Community Medicine in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Medical College, he is involved in teaching and training of medical undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has guided many postgraduate students for their thesis work which includes areas like epidemiology of injuries, health care of geriatrics and mother and child health. He is one of the founder members of the Indian Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (IAPEN) and promoted first Annual Meeting of IAPEN at Bangalore. His contributions towards IAPEN cannot be stated in words and is keen in establishing Community Health and Nutrition Core Group of IAPEN. He has specific interest in area of public health education, injury prevention and care of the elderly. He has various international and national publications to his name.

Dt. Madhu Sharma is a registered dietician since 1982. She did her graduation in Home Science from SIET Women’s College, Madras (Madras University) after which she obtained her Masters in Foods and Nutrition from Home Science College, Hyderabad, APAU. She has been closely associated in the field of Gastroenterology and Paediatric Nutrition for more than 3 decades during her service in PGIMER, Chandigarh (1980-2012). She is trained in management of Cystic fibrosis in children from Dundee, Scotland.
She is the Hon Vice President of IAPEN, Hon Joint Secretary ISPEN, Chapter President of Indian Dietetic Association, Chandigarh and Life member of NSI and WCN. She has also authored 3 books on Pediatric Nutrition. Currently she is attached as Consultant with various city hospitals and nursing homes and has her own website and clinic by name Diet for Life. As Chapter President of IDA at Chandigarh she has been actively involved in conducting CNEs and workshops from time to time since the last four years on various aspects of Clinical Nutrition. She has to her credit many talks on infant feeding and nutrition and women’s’ health organised by different groups from time to time. She is passionately involved in all activities in Nutrition and Dietetics and aims to continue serving in this profession, thereby serving the community at large.

Dr Rita S Patil has done Master Degree from Mumbai University in the year 1987 and M.Phil from S.N.D.T. Women’s University. she joined as PG Visiting Faculty at Maniben Nanavati Women's College. She completed her PhD in the year 2014 from S.N.D.T. Women’s University. She is also a Visiting Faculty for NMIMS Liberal Arts Course and Maternal and Child Nutrition courses. Her area of specilization includes Pediatric Nutrition, MNT, Public Health and Nutrition.
Dr Patil has written a book FUN FILLED FITNESS for KIDS. Dr Rita Patil has presented a paper at the National conference of the Indian Dietetic Association in Kolkatta. Her paper was on "Food Consumption Pattern of School Children in Mumbai". She has started Diet Counseling in Maniben Nanavati Women’s College from February 2018. She is also a research guide for MSc student’s dissertation. She has guided undergraduate girls for research competitions and students have three prizes, one at regional level and another at a state level competition. Dr Rita Patil has also conducted department skill development programme of Basic Baking.
